Hello Jewellery Lovers!
I had the absolute honour of creating a head piece for my friend, Loretta, to wear on her spectacular wedding day, a destination wedding in Cartagena, Colombia!!
Loretta sent me pictures of her beautiful Gwendolynne wedding dress and asked my advise on what jewellery she should wear to compliment her dress... and of corse my mind starting buzzing with ideas and inspirations.
After a few image shares back and forth, a rough sketch and a photo of the materials I had to work with... we were ready & I started to make this special piece of jewellery. Using natural white freshwater pearls, solid sterling silver, rock crystal & marcasite, her bespoke head piece was handmade to match her dress.
The first step was creating the fans of sterling silver which would b the main feature on the back of the head, hang the rock crystal briolettes & attach the strands of pearls.
After the two sterling silver fans were pierced, shaped and polished... I attached the loops for the briolette to be suspended and also the strands of pearls to be strung onto.
Onto each fan, two button shaped freshwater pearls were prepared to be glued onto pins of silver and the tulip caps were attached for the rock crystal briolettes.
The most exciting part was measuring out the lengths of pearls, and threading them on pearl silk - each pearl was individually knotted for maximum security.
After the drape of the pearls was perfect... I was happy to glue the pearls and rock crystals onto the fans. And to complete the look, I made a sweat pair of rock crystal briolette drop earrings - the idea was that the earrings would link the rock crystal from the back of the head to the face, not be too long or bold to distract from the head piece and add that special sparkle and elegance in the photos.
And I couldn't have been more happy to see Loretta wear it on her wedding day, she looked truly gorgeous! x
